Parks and Recreation Plans Input Meetings for its Department Master Plan
Draft Master Plan
The Parks and Recreation Department is holding three Public Input Meetings in March to solicit feedback on its draft Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The plan serves as an update to the departments 2012 Strategic Plan. Community members are welcome to all meeting dates. Meeting dates and locations are:
- Wednesday March 14:6pm, Sherando High School Community Center, 185 South Warrior Drive, Stephens City, VA.
- Thursday March 15: 6pm, Greenwood Mill Elementary School Community Center, 281 Channing Drive, Winchester, VA.
- Tuesday March 20:6pm, Gainesboro Elementary School Community Center, 4651 North Frederick Pike, Winchester, VA.
A draft version of the Master Plan document will be presented at the meeting. “Parks and Recreation is excited to present this draft to the public, so we can get feedback on the direction of the department,” according to Jon Turkel, Park and Stewardship Planner. “This event will give us the needed perspective to ensure we are meeting expectations for what Parks and Recreation will look like in the future and the steps we are taking to get there.”
This document serves as the latest version of the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan and presents an outline of the financial and parkland acquisition direction for the department. Results from the 2017 Community Survey are included as an addendum to the plan. In total, the Parks and Recreation Master Plan is intended to guide department activities to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of current and future Frederick County residents.
