The Public Safety Building houses Frederick County's 911 Center, Fire & Rescue Department, and Sheriff's Department. The County's 911 Center, also known as the Department of Public Safety Communications, is responsible for receiving 911 emergency calls and non-emergency calls within Frederick County and dispatching Fire & Rescue and Law Enforcement units as needed. Our #1 priority is the safety of the public.

The 911 dispatch staff are highly trained professionals. They provide emergency medical dispatch (EMD) pre-arrival instructions for emergency personnel and assist with basic life-saving assistance until EMS units arrive on the scene. They do not give medical advice or recommend other services, such as doctors or tow companies by name. They will direct you to the proper department or jurisdiction if necessary to handle your inquiries.
