This six (6) month academy instructs you to become a Nationally-Registered and Commonwealth of Virginia Emergency Medical Technician. From learning about human anatomy and physiology to treating a medically-ill or injured patient, you will be tested on various skills and treatments throughout the class. Accredited by the Virginia Office of EMS, this program requires the completion of various competency skills in order to satisfy the practical requirement for certification testing. Students are required to complete ten (10) emergency responses involving patient care during the class. This class requires access to the internet for class work and clinical documentation. Access to 3rd party softwares will be given to each student during the first night of class.
Class meets: Mondays and Wednesday (1830 - 2200) and Saturdays and some Sundays (0800 - 1700)
Pre-requisites:
- Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age by the first night of class.
- Internet access will be necessary throughout the course, but not required.
- Must be able to complete all background requirements for Office of EMS.
