This course is designed to provide the foundational education and training for entry-level personnel wanting to become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. Completion of Basic Emergency Medical Services Academy #17 will provide individuals with certifications in Emergency Medical Technician, Mass Casualty Incident Management Levels I and II, and a couple of other ancillary courses. All class sessions are broken down into either four (4) hour blocks or eight (8) hour blocks on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays based upon the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services Course Schedule. At the end of the Certification Course, a computer-adaptive examination will be administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians through a Pearson VUE Testing Site for certification purposes.
