Parks and Recreation Plans Input Meeting for Sherando Park
The Parks and Recreation Department is holding a Public Input Meeting on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 6-8 p.m. at the Sherando High School Parks and Recreation Community Center.
According to Jon Turkel, Parks and Stewardship Planner for the department, “We are updating the Master Plan for the north side of the park. This was last done in 2002 and we feel the desires and needs of the community might have changed. An updated plan will give us a good roadmap for the future.”
The plan update area consists of approximately 200 acres, much of which is undeveloped. Developed amenities in this area include parking, two softball fields, two soccer fields, an 18-hole disk golf course, three miles of mountain bike trails, and 1.25 miles of paved shared-use path. The Sherando Park Master Plan is intended to guide planning and development to meet the needs of current and future Frederick County residents.
Parks and Recreation Commission members will be present and look forward to hearing from the public about Sherando Park.
