Clarke – Frederick – Winchester Foster Families is having an open house to celebrate changes, introduce new people to current resource families, and to allow those interested in becoming Foster Families and opportunity to meet staff and learn what it means to open your heart and your home to children in need.
“There is a huge need for foster families in our area and we felt bringing the organization under our umbrella would allow them better access to our resources and community information outlets, giving them the support they need to inform the public and recruit potential families,” according to Tamara Green, Director of Social Services.
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Foster Family, CFW Foster Families is hosting an Open House on Monday, September 11, from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Frederick County Government Building, 107 N. Kent Street. Light refreshments will be available. Denise Britt and Jes Miller, both Program Coordinators with CFW, will be on hand to talk with attendees about foster care and resources available to foster families.
During 2016-2017, there were 84 children in care across the three localities. Currently there are not enough foster families for the number of children, making it possible to place only 21 of those children in our foster homes. This has resulted in the remaining children having to be served by other agency foster families, often times outside of the community.
