This two (2) day course is designed to prepare the Infection Control Officer to fully meet the requirements of the position under N.F.P.A. 1581, O.S.H.A., and the Ryan White Law. The Ryan White Law states that each fire, EMS, or law enforcement agency must have a designated officer to manage exposure issues for the department. Understanding this role and the many aspects of this job is important to assist with department risk management and department member advocacy. Course will provide students with Category 1 and 2 continuing education credits for B.L.S. and A.L.S. Providers. Preregistration required with Fire and Rescue Department Office by Friday, December 1, 2017 through the Frederick County Fire and Rescue Department On-Line Registration System. Cost of the Basic Designated Infection Control Officer is $200.00 (for personnel outside of Frederick County) to cover books and materials which must be received in full by the registration deadline.
