John Jewell was elected to the Board of Supervisors on November 7, 2023. His term runs through December 2027.

Mr. Jewell serves on the Human Resources Committee, Chair; Technology Committee; Agricultural District Advisory Committee; and Extension Leadership Committee.

Prior to his election to the Board, Mr. Jewell served as a member of the Frederick County Planning Commission from March 2020 to December 31, 2023.  During his tenure on the Planning Commission, Mr. Jewell served as Chairman from January 2022 through December 2023.

John and his wife, Susan, have lived in the Back Creek District for over 27 years where they raised their now adult son and daughter. In the fall of 2019, John retired after serving as the Assistant Sergeant at Arms/Chief Information Officer for the United States Senate during a career that spanned 40 years.
