Judith McCann-Slaughter was appointed to the Board of Supervisors as Interim Representative for the Stonewall District, to serve January 1, 2016 – November 8, 2016 at which time a special election was held. Ms. McCann-Slaughter was elected as Stonewall Representative at that time and again in the general election in November 2017 and 2021. Her term ends December 31, 2025. In 2024 she was elected as Vice Chair of the Board of Supervisors.
Ms. McCann-Slaughter serves on the Finance Committee, Chair; Transportation Committee, Chair; Joint Finance Committee; Metropolitan Planning Organization; Conservation Easement Authority; Economic Development Authority; and Northwestern Regional Jail Board.
Prior to her election to the Board, Ms. McCann-Slaughter served as a member of the Frederick County Finance Committee since March 2013 and has enjoyed the opportunity to work with various county departments and learning about the processes involved in local government.
Ms. McCann-Slaughter is the fifth generation to live on her family’s century farm, which her great, great grandfather settled in 1872. She comes from a long line of family members involved in local and state government. She attended James Wood High School, Lord Fairfax Community College, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a MBA from Shenandoah University.
