COUNTY OF FREDERICK

The 2025 Reassessment notices have been mailed.  the notices contain accurate information regarding 2025 reassessment values.  Please note that due to a recent software conversion, the historical data (2023 and 2024) and related information on the notices may not reflect the prior years' real estate tax book.

Public notice is hereby given that the Assessors of the County of Frederick will meet on the days hereafter listed for the purpose of hearing and complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage for property reassessed that will be effective January 1, 2025.

Upon hearing such appeals, in writing, in person, or conference call, the assessors will render a decision and either increase, decrease, or affirm such assessments.  Before a change can be granted, the taxpayer must prove that the property is not uniform with other similar properties or prove that the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value by evidentiary proof (not foreclosures). Factual errors (i.e., number of bathrooms, square footage, siding type, etc.) may also be brought to the assessors’ attention.

Hearings will be 10 minutes for residential appeals and 20 minutes for commercial appeals. To appear before the assessors or to schedule a conference call appeal, please call 540-722-8319, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday through November 13, 2024. All hearings will be held in the Frederick County Administration Building at 107 North Kent Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
