Star Tannery Volunteer Fire and Rescue
History
With help the Strasburg and Stephens City Fire stations, Star Tannery Fire and Rescue organized in November, 1971. The station was created from a building formally used as a poultry processing business. After several years, the station was added on, with a social hall and additional bays to house emergency apparatus. The station serves the southwestern portion of Frederick County, and also the Northeastern part of Shenandoah County, Virginia.
The station's apparatus includes:
- A BLS (Basic Life Support) Ambulance
- 2 Fire Engines
- An Attack mini-pumper
- A brush truck for woods/ grass fires
- A Tanker with 2,000 gallons
