Home MenuWalk Your Human
Walk Your Human is a new litter initiative that teams up you and your dog to build a cleaner, greener Frederick County.
Volunteers are asked to simply pick up any litter that they find while taking their best furry friend on his or her daily walks. Tracking in the form of "litter selfies" posted to Litterati, a free-downloadable application for iOS devices, are strongly encouraged in order to gauge success.
Walk Your Human:
- Combats litter which mars our community's natural beauty
- Provides quality time with your pet while doing something positive for the environment
- Encourages exercise for you and your pet
- Novel reason to snap a selfie
Walk Your Human kits are free and available in the Public Works office, County Administration Building, 107 N. Kent St., and include a litter grabber, safety vest, pedometer and dog waste bags. Read this Flyer for more information.
This project is a partnership with Keep Virginia Beautiful and the Frederick County Animal Shelter.
Meet Butch. He is the inspiration for the “Walk Your Human” litter initiative. During walks with his Clear Brook area family, Butch collected bottles, cans and all sorts of roadside litter. Although now deceased, Butch lives on in the hearts of his family and leaves behind a legacy of service and a cleaner community.
