The Sheriff is a constitutional officer that is elected by the citizens of Frederick County and is elected for a term of four years. The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer where he is responsible for the overall operation of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Millholland was elected Sheriff of Frederick County in November 2015 and begain as Sheriff on January 1, 2016. Sheriff Millholland served four terms as Winchester sheriff before retiring in 2013. Prior to holding that position, he worked for the Winchester Police Department, where he was hired in 1979 and eventually served in the criminal investigations unit to try to solve cold cases. |

Chief Deputy The Chief Deputy is second in command of the Sheriff’s Office. The Chief Deputy assumes the duties of the Sheriff whenever the Sheriff is unavailable. The Chief Deputy assists the Sheriff with the overall operation of the Sheriff’s Office. |

Major Hawkins joined the Sheriff's Office in January 2016. Major Hawkins comes with vast experience in law enforcement including 27 years with the Virginia State Police. |
