The Frederick County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigations Division, Internet Crimes Against Children Investigators are actively engaged in locating, apprehending and prosecuting predators that are using the internet and/or any communication systems to sexual exploit our children. Suspected predators are prosecuted for violations of Virginia and Federal statutes.
The Criminal Investigations Division has trained Investigators that work closely with the Northern Virginia-D.C. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Washington-Metro area United States Secret Service, Electronic Crimes Task Force.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimates that one in every seven youth online (10 to 17-years-old) received a sexual solicitation or approach over the Internet. They also estimate that four percent (4%) have experienced an aggressive solicitation, where the solicitor attempted to contact the child offline.
